Alan was a Cabinet Minister in the Australian Government, making him one of the most senior politicians in the nation. Across nine years in government, he served as Education Minister, Immigration Minister, Human Services Minister, Urban Infrastructure Minister, and Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister. He was elected to the Australian Parliament in 2010 and resigned his position in February 2023.
Prior to entering the Australian Parliament, Alan had worked for the Boston Consulting Group in Melbourne, New York, and Malaysia, undertaking business strategy and operations engagements in financial services, telcos, and government enterprises.
He has a Bachelor of Laws (honours) and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne and an MBA (distinction) from Harvard Business School.
